Project Development Estimator (Midwest Territory)

The Project Development Estimator (PDE) is responsible for reviewing construction project plans and specifications for the primary purpose of producing damper actuator, control valve and sensor schedules to be utilized in developing project quotes. The Project Development Estimator will build productive business relationships working alongside Belimo District Sales Managers (DSM), Regional Sales Managers (RSM), and Regional Application Consultants (RAC).  The Project Development Estimator will also have the opportunity to engage directly with customers on behalf of the Belimo sales team.

The Project Development Estimator is part of the U.S. Contracting Sales team, reports to a Regional Sales Manager, and bears full responsibility for agreed upon goals and objectives.


  • Perform a project “take-off” based on project design plans and specifications
  • Provide completed take-off to DSM/RSM/RAC for quoting purposes
  • Manage workload to meet bid deadline requirements
  • Proactively search construction websites for plans and specifications, as guided by the RSM, to identify potential projects to pursue
  • Work closely with DSM/RSM/RAC on project identification and qualification as well as product selection
  • Develop a list of potential bidders based on project specifications and provide appropriate quotes for each bidder.  Forward this information to the respective DSM to proactively pursue these projects.
  • Collaborate with the Region’s inside sales resources (as well as external) to satisfy customer quoting requests, as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3 Years proven track record in a similar type position (estimating / project development)
  • Experience working with and interpreting commercial construction documents (plans and specs)
  • Strong technical aptitude.  Experience in HVAC or related technical field.
  • Strong organizational and inter-personal skills are required
  • Self-starting personality is required to efficiently structure work schedule and work independently from a home office
  • MS Excel, MS Word, and other basic computer skills.
